Antonette Scarlett Post tribute on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 - 21:02
I call Nyle my 'camp son' because that is where Lennox and I got to know him, at the United Church Summer Camps. We were camp parents a number of times. I clearly remember him from Teen's camp. I was always impressed with him. Many times he was one of those campers being nominated for camp boy or some other position. At camp, Nyle would be involved in many activities: choir, praise and worship, musical piece, family clean-up duties, etc. He was always well behaved, respectful and striving for excellent. I loved those character traits in him. Over the years he had also become Abigail's good friend and that endeared him to me even more. The annual United Church Ash Wednesday services were another opportunity to come into contact with Nyle. I remember when I first saw him with his growing locks. It was at one of these Ash Wednesday services. As we greeted each other, I saw a young man confident in who he was and it made me that more proud of him. He sweetly acknowledged my affirmation of his maturing self. I so enjoy seeing young people come into their own! It has been a pleasure knowing Nyle. I am glad that he knew that he was one of my special sons. I celebrate his life and bless God for Michelle, Rodger and 'mother-aunt', Rev. Nicqi, his other relatives and mentors for nuturing and grooming him into the young man he became. Thank God for bringing him into the life of the Scarlett family. Young people: Love God, seek his wisdom, love others, love yourself, explore your purpose and walk in it by God's grace. Friends: Let us seek to love our youths into their purpose.

Unfortunately, for me, I never knew Nyle personally, but only did ever meet him through his mother, Michelle, with whom I studied in Undergrad. I still cannot believe though that anyone this young can have already taken their exit. I am sorry in ways untold, as I cannot imagine the horror of saying goodbye to a child but more than that one without a sibling. I am cut up over this news. In times like these, I keep focusing on the goodness of God and his mercies as it is the only consolation! Truly!...wherever you are mate, walk good and keep shining the light of your beauty down on the rest of us on this side! Peace, love and blessings!

Wow, sigh. Nyle is not here with us on earth but he will always be in our hearts, his presence brought joy, his smile brought happiness and comfort. This is still a hard pill to swallow but the journey he faced taught me alot, I now look at Christ differently, my faith grew, I now have a stronger belief in miracles because God himself was working through Nyle. We will surely meet again in heaven. What a day of rejoicing that will be!!

My dear cousin, only known to me for a relatively short time but through those few encounters I could tell you were a sweet and joyful soul. It broke my heart to hear of your sickness and the pain and aches which followed. God saw that you were tired and He called you home to have eternal rest. Your life was short, but impactful. Sleep in perfect peace lil cuz! One day death will lose its sting and the grave its victory. Keep courage aunty Michelle and uncle Roger!

Although I did not know you personally but I knew both your parents. The two became one was fulfilled in you. What I have seen in the love shown in the last year I can only conclude the heavenly father saw it fit to take you home to a better place. My prayers are with you Michelle and Roger and all the family and close friends. May the memories you built remain in a special place in every life you touched.

Michelle Ashwood-Stewart Post tribute on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 - 19:08
God saw that Nyle was getting tired, A cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes, We watched him suffer And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard-working hands took rest. God broke our hearts When He proved to us He only takes “the best”.
